A Fantastic Point

From a letter to New Orleans’s Times Picayune:

I can hardly bear to watch the images coming in from the Midwest. The Katrina wounds have still not healed. I’m not sure that they ever will.
But have any of the politicians who suggested that New Orleans not be rebuilt suggested the same for the cities flooded in Iowa?

Are there any preachers out there suggesting from their pulpits that the broken levees and broken hearts of Iowa are God’s retribution for Iowa’s wicked ways?

And the answer is: of course not, because those voters are GOP friendly and white. Simple as that. Sigh.

(Hat Tip to John Cole.)

It’s ironic, I guess. Those who would claim that God was responsible for Katrina and the current floods do so blaming others. Whatever happened to “the rain falls upon the just *and* the unjust?” On the other side, god isn’t blamed enough. Instead it is the government’s fault that it rained a lot. WTF? Just goes to show that government is many people’s god.
